I Am…..A Poem

I loved doing this poem, using this template. Thank you Mama Kat, for a great prompt.

I am calm and bold
I wonder how long I’ll feel this way
I hear the waves of the ocean
I see the blue, blue sky
I want to feel this way forever
I am calm and bold

I pretend to lie on my back and watch the seagulls fly
I feel light and free
I touch my children’s warm hands
I worry about the big bad world
I cry to think that my children’s hearts will one day be broken
I am calm and bold

I understand that life is challenging
I say go big or go home
I dream of a wonderful future for my family
I try to be the best wife and mother I can be
I hope that they know that
I am calm and bold

I wrote this in 10 minutes, filling in the blanks of the template with the first things that came to mind. So, anyone can be a poet yes?

My ‘Chair’

A few weeks ago, I showed you where I blog.

Mama Kat asks this week where we plant our backside and why.

Much has changed in 6 weeks.

Toy lion using laptop

New laptop (I love this MacBook Air!) because someone screwed up my Dell’s keyboard. I’m not naming names but he’s about 3 feet tall….

Same sofa, different spot. Now I’m nearly 7 months pregnant, I need a more comfortable spot with better back support.

Yes, I’m hairier. Like my new look? (The husband set this shot up while I was putting the toddler to bed. Yes, we’re a fun household!)

Five Things

I am co-hosting a fun link up with Galit Breen of These Little Waves from December 5-9, Memories Captured. You have a chance to win a 16 x 20 Canvas Press photo print! More details here!

I couldn’t resist this prompt over at Mama Kat’s Losin’ It: List 5 things we don’t know about you, 5 things you’re knowledgeable about, 5 things you know nothing about, and 5 things you believe.

I love lists and I love talking about myself (hah!), so yeah, no-brainer.

5 Things You Don’t Know About Me

1. I did ballet when I was a kid. I quit when I was 7 because I couldn’t stand my teacher.

2. I wanted to be Jem of Jem and the Holograms when I was 8.

3. I nearly became a flight attendant when I was 18.

4. I practice smiling in front of the mirror more often than I should.

5. I really hate birds.

5 Things I’m Knowledgeable About

1. Public relations. At least, I hope I still have the skills!

2. Blogging. I think. Hah!

3. How to make a good cup of tea.

4. Elmo. Thanks to my son.

5. The benefits of exercise and drinking water. I just need to put this into practice.

5 Things I Know Nothing About

1. Elf on the Shelf. I don’t get it.

2. Sewing. I’m in awe of people who can sew.

3. Politics. I don’t want to know.

4. Dora, Calilou, Tangled – I don’t want to know either.

5. Computer programming. My husband is a whiz at this. We’ll just let him have one up on me on something.

5 Things I Believe In

1. Kindness.

2. Honesty.

3. Joy can be found in many things – just stop and look.

4. Black is a slimming color.

5. Ice cream and chocolate make any situation better.

Tell me one thing you believe in.

I also have a guest post today!!

I haven’t written at all about Monkey’s birth.

My birth story is nothing unusual – there were no dramatics (other than my continuously begging for an epidural which was 90 long minutes in coming. Oh, there was also the severe postpartum blood loss. Eh); there were no glorious mother/ baby photos (I was drifting in and out of consciousness for the first 2 hours postpartum and didn’t even hold my baby except when he was newly born and I had him for 5 minutes); but mostly, I just didn’t know how to approach telling it without being long winded and boring.

When Kimberly of Zook Book Nook graciously asked me 3 months ago if I’d write a guest post for her focusing on one of 5 senses in honor of her newborn daughter, that of smell, I thought it would be a perfect way of telling you my birth story in a mere 220 words (or so).

If you’d be so kind as to visit Kimberly to wish her and her third daughter well, and read my very short post, I’d be all over you like a kid with a cupcake.

Thank you!
