Yes, I have managed to kill the beautiful MacBook Air I was given to use AFTER my old Dell died a watery death earlier this year.
Yes, I spilled a drink all over it (and posted a picture of it on Instagr.am, with rice all over the keyboard) and now it won’t turn on.
Yes, ALL of my baby’s pictures are on it and no, I did not think to back them up or had the opportunity to upload them in my ThisLife account.
Yes, I am an idiot.
And yes, my husband found another laptop for me from his stash at the office and it works. It’s no MacBook Air, the battery is crap and needs to be on charger at all times, it takes forever to boot up, but it works.
When I sent him a text in the middle of the afternoon to inform him that I had ruined yet another laptop, his immediate response was to tell me to put it in rice (I had).
His next response was to tell me to take photographs of it as “this makes a good blog post.”

Thank you Husband, for not making me feel like an idiot. For not making me feel bad about my carelessness. For hustling up a laptop for me as soon as you could because you know how lost I feel without one.
You could easily have given me a gentle lecture on not putting drinks next to computers and other electronic products, but you did not.
You could have made me feel guilty for nearly losing all our baby’s pictures (priceless) and I would have agreed with you, but you did not.
Instead, you hugged me and told me it’s okay, we can retrieve those pictures. Instead, you went to the office and got me a working computer. Instead, you encouraged me to write a blog post about it.

Confession–I am a ruiner of phones. Mine usually meet a watery death too. It’s embarassing how many go in the toilet, literally. Truly, your husband sounds so sweet and he knows you so well. Of course you’d turn this situation into a fab blog post 
I’ve been pretty lucky (or careful?) with phones. Though when the toddler was a baby, he threw my phone on the ground and broke the screen. So there’s that.
So sweet! I love that you turned this bad event into a loving moment. Sometimes we don’t stop to see the good. His reaction was good!

I’ve only been blogging over a year and this is my THIRD ONE. Eeek.
oh wow. i feel you girl. i cracked hubby’s new ipod screen. blah. im so damn clumsy. is your mac still under warranty? apple can extract your files for you. if not, you can buy an external drive enclosure, take the hard drive out of the mac, put it in the disclosure, plug the enclosure into a working mac, do not let it format the drive! and retrieve your files. they’re not gone. you can get them. let me know if you need instructions and i’ll find them for you, but only attempt if having a pro do it is not possible.
